MPS AI (Artificial Intelligence) Instructional Use Guidelines
The MPS AI Instructional Use Guidelines outlines the suggestions for teachers and students using AI-powered chatbots or any AI platforms. Teachers and students agree to comply with these guidelines.
- Academic Integrity
- Use AI responsibly and maintain academic integrity.
- Do not use AI to cheat, plagiarize, or engage in academic dishonesty.
- Respect the intellectual property rights of others.
- Only submit or share work generated by AI with proper attribution.

- Use the output generated by AI as a tool for learning and understanding but take responsibility for your original work.
- Respectful Communication
- Use AI to engage in respectful and appropriate communication.
- Use AI respectfully and avoid harassment, bullying, or offensive language.
- Do not use AI to engage in personal attacks, discrimination, or harmful or offensive behavior toward others.
- Personal Safety and Privacy
- Do not create accounts or encourage students to create accounts in any AI platforms without first making sure the platform is district approved.
- Protect not only your personal information and privacy but also that of others while using AI.
- Do not share sensitive personal information through a chatbot, such as full name, address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.
- Be cautious when interacting with AI, and avoid disclosing confidential or sensitive information about yourself or others.
- Legal and Ethical Compliance
- Use AI in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and school policies, such as our Responsible Use Policy and Copyright Guidelines.
- Do not use AI to engage in any form of illegal activity, including but not limited to hacking, spreading malware, phishing, fraud, or any other activity that violates the law.
- Cooperate fully with any investigations regarding the misuse of AI. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to loss of access to AI, loss of school-issued technology, and other appropriate consequences determined by the school administration.
